Denver Beginners, Here’s Your (Affordable) Gym Checklist

Hey, friend!

Whether you're in the mile high city of Denver, or anywhere in the world, this blog is for you! Stepping into a gym for the first time, or for the first time in a while, can feel equal parts exciting and intimidating. As your new favorite small affordable fitness studio in Denver, we know every choice matters, like where you go, what to bring, and yes, doing it affordably!

You belong here. And with a little preparation, we can help get you and your gym bag set you up for success!

1. Flat-Soled Shoes for Lifting

Starting with squats or deadlifting, flat-soled shoes give you stability and better control. Simple skate-style sneakers (vans for example. chucks also work) or minimalist flats will work. You can find them affordably around Denver in places like thrift stores. Comfort and confidence without the cost? That’s how we train here.


2. Comfortable, Functional Clothing

You don’t need anything fancy. Breathable tees or tanks, and stretchy pants or shorts work. The goal is to be able to move. For example, you should be able to squat comfortably in whatever you wear, and lift your arms above your head and feel comfortable. Tip: Denver’s local thrift stores or discount retailers are the perfect place for affordable workout gear.


3. Reusable Water Bottle (Hydrate Affordably)

Hydration is non-negotiable. Bring a reusable water bottle! We have filtered water here at our gym in Denver that’s for women & queer people. Functional, wallet-friendly, and sustainable. Perfect.


4. Smart Snacks: Before & After

Fuel matters! Here’s an example of what something to eat before and after working out:

  • Before workout: Grab a banana or applesauce pouch + a spoonful of peanut butter.

  • After workout: Greek yogurt with honey and oats, or a simple peanut butter sandwich on whole grain.


Need something asap? As a part of your membership, we offer snacks and drinks available for free before or after your workout! We also have vegan protein shakes available for purchase.


6. Your Mindset: Supportive, Courageous, & Free

A curiosity, and the reminder that just starting something new, is courageous in itself.
